“Ok I swear I came out the womb with pencil crayons - sorry mom! All jokes aside, I’ve been a little artist my whole life. Art has always been my escape and brought me so much joy. So having the chance to make it a career still shocks me everyday!
I’ve spent most of my life in Kelowna, but I’m originally from England. My parents emigrated to Canada when I was 4, and we moved to BC when I was 14. I spent my early twenties in Toronto in the night life industry, waiting tables, bartending and promoting at night clubs. That lifestyle gets old pretty fast though, so at 23 I made the choice to move back to Kelowna. Getting back to nature and calm was exactly what I needed, and the last 5 years have been such a blessing. I got married to my best friend Riki and acquired my children, aka Dune the Rottweiler and my kitty Zuko.
Tattooing was always something I was interested in from being a young teenager. I used to secretly watch LA Ink and would go buy tattoo magazines and hide them under my bed. But unfortunately, I didn’t think I could realistically make a career out of it. I worked in real estate while I’ve been back in Kelowna and thought that would be my life long career, but I was truthfully unfulfilled and wanted more. So two years ago I pumped the breaks and decided to go follow my dreams.
I finally landed an apprenticeship in 2023 and studied under three amazing artists here in Kelowna. My mentors all had a strong art background, so my training was very formal and I spent a lot of time drawing and perfecting my abilities. Once I started tattooing real skin I felt confident and eager to keep learning and growing in this new field of artwork. However, being a new artist and being in a private studio was a challenge as we did not offer daily walk-ins and I needed that extra exposure to be able to grow my clientele. So we thought moving here to Inked Angels was going to be the best bet for myself and my future career.
Needless to say I am so thrilled to be able to call myself a Junior Tattoo Artist and I cannot wait for the years to come!”
